Electrician

SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Plant Electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of plant equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Uses safe work practices and counsels other employees to do the same, as necessary. This includes understanding and complying with the lock-out/tag-out procedures, remaining current on plant and safety matters, and participating regularly in department/plant safety meetings.
Installs conduit, wring and equipment with craftsmanship in a skilled and professional manner.
Reads and interprets electrical power distribution, control, ladder logic, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
Installs, commissions, maintains, and troubleshoots A/C and D/C motor control equipment.
Helps maintain an organized storeroom area for spare parts.
Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs 3-phase 460V power distribution systems, 120VAC control systems, and low voltage DC control systems.
Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots PLC and computer based control systems. Uses computer skills and computer related equipment to diagnose problems with production equipment.
Maintains and troubleshoots combustion equipment including gas trains, automatic control valves, and other gas-fired equipment.
Understands, maintains, and repairs process control loops.
Determines if production equipment needs to be repaired or services; coordinates machine downtime and repairs with production management.
Prioritizes work when more than one issue needs addressed at a time.
Takes an active role in the requisitioning of parts/materials necessary for the continued operation of the plant.
Perform preventative maintenance routines as scheduled and as needed.
Knows all safety warning signs and signals and takes corrective action.
Communicate maintenance issues with other shifts to ensure continuity of operation. Read and record comments in both Maintenance and Production logbooks.
Insures that housekeeping in the Maintenance Department is maintained to a safe level and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored at all times, as well as before leaving such area for breaks, meal times, and end of the shift. Maintains a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Must be able to report to work on time and work all hours required of the job, including mandatory overtime; may be required to occasionally cover shifts other than the one for which hired.
Performs other work related duties and projects as directed.
Participate in the continuous improvement with regards to matters of product quality, environmental, health, & safety.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience:
Minimum of five years electrical experience working in a heavy industrial environment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to demonstrate the following:

Applies general knowledge of proper and safe use of shop equipment and tools.
Ability to read and interpret ladder logic control schemes.
Ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair 480V, 3-phase power distribution systems, PLC's, VFDs, A/C and D/C motor controls, and combustion systems.
Computer literate and familiar with the NEC code book.
Apply troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Able to read, write and interpret written information.
Apply strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Exhibit sound and accurate judgement and include appropriate people in decision-making process.
Accurately count and perform basic math functions, including mental calculation of simple equations and/or fractions.
Adhere to guidelines set forth in the Employee Handbook and follow ISO and management/departmental policies and procedures.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Special Tools/Equipment Used:
Must possess a valid California Drivers License and be able to obtain and maintain current OSHA Certified Industrial Truck Operator License.

2. Follow established ergonomics procedures governing lifting techniques, repetitive tasks, and the use of safety equipment and supplies to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses.
3. Participate in appropriate safety training programs prior to performing tasks that involve potential exposure to hazards related to the workplace.
4. Follow established procedures governing the use/disposal of personal protective equipment and supplies.
5. Report all accidents/incidents to your supervisor no matter how minor they may be. (NOTE: Such occurrences must be reported on the shift in which they occur.)
6. Ensure good housekeeping practices are performed within your department.
7. Maintain a tobacco free environment.

Working Conditions:
The working conditions described below are representative of the working and environmental conditions workers in this position will be subject to:
Inside environmental conditions: Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from
temperature changes. Occasional exposure to dust and odors.
Outside environmental conditions: No effective protection from weather.
Extreme cold and heat: Occasionally subject to temperatures below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees
for periods of more than one hour. Heated and cooled rest areas are provided for all employees.
Noise: Frequently travels to other areas of the plant requiring hearing protection.
Hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical equipment
and/or parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat, exposure
to chemicals, or wet floors.
Hazardous Materials: Potential exposure to oils and chemicals. Personal Protective Equipment
required and provided for employees working with hazardous materials.
Respirator use: Occasionally required to wear a respirator, but not during the regular course of work.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
